When it comes to trekking in the Indian Himalaya you can't omit Harish Kapadia. No one has written more books on the subject. There's Across peaks and passes in Kumaun Himalaya,Garhwal,Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh,Zanskar and Eastern Karakoram. A good overall guide is High Himalaya Unknown Valleys. They are published byIndus Publshing Company available from Amrit Book co.21-n Connaught Circus New Delhi-1. Another comprehensive guide is The Indian Himalaya by Manmohan Singh Bawa published by Leomann Maps. Email Leomannhim@yahoo.com .For info on the central Himalaya there is Minakshi Chaudhry's Guide to Trekking in Himachal. Also put out by Indus Publishing. If you want a taste of yester years trekking turn to This my voyage by Tom Longstaff and Himalayan Odyssey by Trevor Braham available secondhand on Alibris,The Mountaineers,Amazon etc. For Nepal I recommend Steve Razetti's Climbing and Trekking in Nepal.
Best wishes
